One of the leading departments of business studies at the Faculty of Business Studies University of Dhaka is the Business Systems School. The Department of Economics and Commerce taught accounting as a discipline during the academic period of 1922-23. In 1970, the Faculty of Commerce was appointed a professorship composed of two divisions, Accounting and Administration. A new chapter on Accounting Education started in the country and has since led to business education in Bangladesh, with the implementation of a Master in Commerce (https://i.bdestnews.com) degree in Accounting. With 8 teachers and 140 students, the Department of Accounting began its academics in 1970 and currently has expanded to over 2,200 students and 50 teachers. The Department has retained its continued dedication to first-rate education and science since it started. In 2002, the department was renamed Department of Accounting and Information Management, after the institutional and curriculum reforms.
